At the pub recently i was waiting for some friends too turn up and i met this girl in my social group (who i dont see very often). she was being very polite too me but i then caught a glimpse of her text message too one of my friends saying "barry save me" "barry save" "barry save me"

what do you think that text message was implying? it was just me and her talking while we waited for our other friends too turn up.

it probably had nothing to do with you but if it did, it would likely mean that you make her uncomfortable and she wants barry to take her away from you.

If it was just you and her there alone, and she is texting someone else to "save her", then she is most likely uncomfortable, weirded out, or bored with you for some reason.

Honestly, I hate people who are like that; if I were in your position and saw that, I'd excuse myself to go to the bathroom or something but then sit elsewhere or leave entirely and go to another Bar (while telling friends that plans have changed) when they aren't paying attention; people who are like that aren't true friends whatsoever

I agree with the others. The person was trying to have someone swoop in and take them out of the interaction they were having with you. Sucks that you saw those texts because I'm sure it hurts. But on the bright side you know you don't have to waste any energy on this person anymore.

It's actually pretty stupid, if you ask me.

How long would it have taken for "Barry" to have come to the bar to "relieve" that woman? Would Barry have wanted to get out of his bed to "rescue" this woman?

All the woman has to do, should she not like JamesY, is to just ignore him. If JamesY persists in talking to her while she ignores him, the bouncers would intercede on her behalf.

JamesY, and bars, just don't mix...…

They don't mix with me either....that's why I don't go to them.

I agree. If I saw that, I would not continue talking to that person.

What was going on in the interaction when she sent the texts, were you and her talking causually...or just sitting in awkward silence?

You don't always meet the nicest people in bars.

The guy really, really, shouldn't go to bars.....

What does he get out of them, anyway?

I don't really get his infatuation for bars. It must be a British thing.

Going too bars is better than being housebound with your parents on the weekend....

Don't feel bad. I have been in those situations plenty of times myself. Many times, it wasn't even me, or at least not all me, that was the problem. Sometimes the other person was just as shy and awkward, yet they expected you to carry the conversation for the both of them.

A little socialization is better than no socialization.
