I keep hearing that the end is near; that the Second Coming of Christ (aka The Rapture) is coming at some point, that we will have 3 1/2 years of peace and 3 1/2 years of war. I think the 3 1/2 years of peace are going to happen in Heaven and the war is going to happen on Earth, as we will be controlled immensely by the Devil's army.

Two questions:
Do you believe the end is near?
and
Where do you think you are going to go? Do you think you're going to go to Heaven? Or hell? Or aren't you sure?

Hmm ... :chin:

This seems suspiciously like a lead-in to a "Come to Jesus" speech.

We've been "getting closer to the End Times" since the beginning of Time.

Don't know.

I don't believe in either Heaven or Hell.

1) Now that Joe Rogan is considered intellectual, I do believe we’re coming very close to End Times.
2) I’m going to go back Home on the Mother Ship.

Who knows if the end is near? I don't!

As for going to Heaven: I hope I get to go. I've often said that when it comes to Judgment Day, I hope I'm shown mercy, and not justice!

We're always getting closer to something.

Someday the sun will die. It's a long, long ways off, but it's always getting closer.

As several have pointed out the title of the thread is a silly tautology. The Earth will come to end SOME day, and SOME how. So obviously, since we are moving forward in time, then we must "getting closer" to it, even if that end is the Sun turning into a Red Giant five billion years from now as astromers predict.

But no, the end is not neigh.

Scripture tells us that we can't predict the End of Days, so I believe that while we should be ready, we shouldn't be obsessed with it. Like what Martin Luther said when asked what he would do if he knew that Christ were to return tomorrow " I
would plant an apple tree".

Answer 1: The end of what? You haven't defined what your talking about? The end of the world?, the end of humans?, the end of the universe? the end of the milky way? the end of america? the end of take out food? the end of the letter "Q"? You need to be more specific. Since you left it open, I will answer it how I see fit. I believe the human race will destroy itself at some point. Maybe take out the planet with it, but the rest of the universe will go on.

Answer 2: Reincarnated. If not on this round ball, then on some other round ball.

I think it will end both as described in Scripture, as well as described by T.S. Eliot: “...Not with a bang, but a whimper.”

Not to sound like an anal dickweed, but the actual quote went: "I'll live like Christ will return tomorrow, but I'll still plant apple trees."
I'm a Lutheran. Just out of interest, are you?

Me too. No need to eat, sleep or whatever. Just exist and observe the stars as I travel the cosmos.

You bet. I have been a member of several synods over the years.
