I lay the responsibility on the public education system because those who seek out alternative theories are pro active in their education. Those who adopt alternative theories for which the evidence strongly refutes, however, need a little more skill at considering and weighing the evidence.
No education can
force you to accept science if you're determined to reject it. If there's something I've learned about most people so far, it's that their freedom of thought is
not bound by logic or evidence. If they want to believe something, they'll find a way. Tell them they can't and they'll do it even more to spite you.
