Considering that many people have fooled people in real life with false problems and false identities, even close friends and family. People on this forum should realize there may be people here making stuff up to get lots attention. Possibly for years.

I'm suspicious of anyone who draws huge amounts of attention to themselves. Some seem to even thrive on negative attention. Those who start one virtually identical thread after another about themselves and also have a history of those threads getting locked.

Factitious disorders does not apply to the linked cases. These a people are greedy, not mentally ill.
