Escapism, good or bad?

Without escapism I would have killed myself more than 15 years ago

But it also can be considered a drug

So, what are your thoughts?

You need an option for "It depends".

I play tabletop RPGs as a form of escapism, but I don't play them 24/7. Some people have become so obsessed with the games and dependent on their characters that losing their favorite character can induce feelings of suicidal grief -- that's WAY too much escapism!

I think it’s okay to a moderate degree, but not an extreme obviously.

A little is healthy. Everyone needs a break.

The poll is confusing. It should say to pick something such as "It's good" or "It's bad" or "Unsure". But it says to pick either yes or no. So if I pick no, does that mean "no, it's good" or "no, it's bad"?

Anyway, I think some escapism is okay and helps to keep people from going insane or severely depressed. Too bad the society live in thinks the world will end horribly if we spend one minute of our life actually enjoying it.

Good in short terms. Usually in long terms when it comes with moderation.

Bad in extreme forms.


Let's just say I spent a bit too much time figuring how to work productively, that I barely figured how to slack off productively.
Same goes with the majority if you look it that way...

I think that escapism can be a good thing. I don't do it every day. I do it when I need to.

There is nothing wrong with escapism, as long as it doesn't become an addiction.
