I like Simpsons more, as it doesn't rely on gory cut-away gags to get the job done. But what about you? Are you a Homer Simpson, or a Peter Griffin

The Simpsons. You can't have a relatable family when the dog and the baby talks like everyone else. The Simpsons is more realistic, as their dog doesn't talk and neither does the baby (although Maggie is so mute and patient that it's a tad unrealistic too, as babies typically take up the most attention in a family, but I still prefer that to a baby talking like a grown man). I know cartoons don't have to make logical sense but cartoons like Family Guy, Simpsons, South Park, etc, are what you call "mature cartoons", so it's better to include a bit more logic in these sorts of cartoons than you would see in kids cartoons like Spongebob.
I know you could argue that the Simpsons are yellow, but it still seems more logical to me than a talking baby or dog.

I've never actually watched a whole episode of Family Guy but I've seen little clips of it and it doesn't attract me like the Simpsons always has.

Family guy and Simpsons both of them great shows to kill time.

It depends on my mood. And family guy is not re-watchable unlike simpsons in my opinion.

I prefer Simpsons and South Park over Family Guy.

Family Guy. It's gross out, controversial humor makes me laugh more. Plus I like the talking dog and baby. But what really does it for me are the stream of consciousness cut-aways.

When I was 11 years old through 14, I loved watching the Simpsons. Then Family Guy came around and I ended up watching that instead. They are both good shows

I like both shows but I neither is as edge as when it 1st came out. I think The Simpsons is more tame due to series being a older. That is one of the reasons I prefer Family Guy. I also like the cutaway gags on FG.

The simpsons has characters that are actually well-written and doesn't rely on cut-off gags and "lol randum" humor

I do occasionally watch family guy when I'm stoned/drunk and don't want to use my brain too much. It's a guilty pleasure of mine

Basically this for me too. I don't even remember the last time Family Guy was actually funny, to be quite honest. Modern Simpsons and South Park aren't as good as the older episodes either, but at least they actually try.

I have a hard time admitting to being a fan of Family Guy, but it's kind of a comfort show at times and I can get a decent laugh from it. The first ten seasons or so of The Simpsons, on the other hand, are pure gold to me. Really smartly written jokes and a surprisingly emotional center to a lot of the episodes. Aside from maybe Futurama, not much else lands as perfectly for me as far as adult cartoons go.

Simpsons, pre-movie era. Family Guy (old episodes) are good but they don't have the warmth and moral message that old Simpsons does. Also, cutaway gags are filler. They can be funny but they exist solely to pad out episodes.

I enjoy both, but I prefer The Simpsons more. I watch it on FXX all the time. My dad has been watching it since it premiered and I've watched since I was a little kid. I had a stuffed black cat as a kid and I actually named it "Scratchy"

The "paint drying" clip always cracks me up though
