We can always define planet this way:
Quote:
A planet is a celestial body that either
(a) is in orbit around the Sun,
(b) has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium (nearly round) shape, and
(c) has cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit,
or
(a) is Pluto.
There! The familiar nine-planet list kids learned at school between 1930 and 2006 is back,
because we can, and because lay people like annoying scientists!
