In regards to so-called pillars of society:
Only recently, I've read two obituaries of people that were the opposite of what was written about them. I can't understand people. After they're dead, they're put on pedestals after they've given so much pain to others. We all do horrible things to each other but these two are monsters. The one was a violent pederast whose victims will probably never heal. They wrote about him as though the world experienced a great loss. The other was a woman who was so hateful and sour but was made to look like Mother Goose. Unbelievable.

Obituaries are usually written by family members & family tends to look at loved ones through rose colored glasses. It's also possible that the family was fully aware & understood the problems those people had but the family still wanted the deceased to be remembered in a good way anyways maybe partly because the family was worried about how it would reflect on them.
