Hello! I am a freshly diagnosed Aspie. I'm 46 and have been thinking about seeking diagnosis for many years, but I've finally got through all the various waiting lists involved.
Just started doing a bit more reading on the subject, and learning why I'm like I am, and it does help a lot. But as I've said to my friends and colleagues: I have a new diagnosis. I haven't suddenly changed. I'm exactly the same as I have always been, just now with a handy label. 
I'm not very good at posting stuff on social media, as it feels awkward - I'm actually better in real life as the words are transient and don't hang around to be picked at later, and also you can clearly see the audience and choose whether to speak or remain silent accordingly. But I will try as much as possible to post rather than simply lurk.
