"Nomophobia" is a recently created word that means fear of not having access to a working cell phone.

Sounds like a old word meaning "fear of law(s)."

Actually, the prefix "Nomo-" is most likely derived from the Greek word "Nomos", meaning "Custom" or "Law".

Thus, "Nomophobia" means "Fear of [the] Law".

Whoever came up with that "no access to a cell phone" nonsense obviously knows nothing about etymology in general or the Greek language in particular.

"No mobile phobia" = "nomophobia". This is where it comes from.

 Oh, brother...

By someone who was educated in a public school system, no doubt.

May as well be defined as "Fear of Poverty" (No Money + Phobia).

Regardless of the meaning, I think it's just a fun word to say. Nomophobia, nomophobia, nomophobia :P
