Do you ever sit and do nothing for periods of time?

There's times when I just sit rocking back and forth staring at nothing. Lot's of times I have to be snapped out of it.

I have only done this after a breakdown/burnout? , I was incapable of doing anything , I felt trapped in my head.

I do this all the time. My co-workers are kind of used to it but sometimes concerned though. Personally, I find it relaxing.

I do it, and find it quite enjoyable. It's more common when I feel i'm overstimulated by my environment... like a safe heaven.

Most of the time, no. I can't stand idle time doing nothing. I have to have something to read or study.

^^I wish I was like you. I'm pretty lazy when it comes to lots of things.

Doing a college paper always felt like a form of torture for me----but I was always glad when I did produce something good.

Happens a lot in this neck of the woods, especially when I'm stressed.

I do that. Voluntarily and involuntarily. Doesn't matter whether I'm tired/stressed/overwhelmed and confused or not, yet it could happen. But it's more with being bored and seriously not having to do anything apart from just waiting for orders or a change.

:x Half the time, mine is usually cut short by nuisance of a bodily reaction than outside interference or urgent necessity.

I do that often, without any trigger too.

I think I do it whenever my anxiety shoots through the roof and I'm all alone, but the minute people start talking to me I perk back up.

It's like I feel compelled to talk to people even when I really don't feel like it.

Sometimes when I wake up I lay in bed staring up at the ceiling, just thinking about everything.

Otherwise, no, I can't just sit there unless I'm doing something like reading, writing, being on my phone, etc.

That sounds like autistic catatonia or similar. That happens to me also for the same reasons.

But for what I'm talking about everything is okay when it happens.

Most of the time except I sit at the laptop, doing nothing, scrolling through the same social media. I don't find it entertaining nor do I have the motivation to do anything else unless I have to. I haven't found pleasure in any kind of hobby for years.

I never really think much of it. I just see it as a lack of focus making me prefer to do things that require little to no focus I don't know what else it could be.

I thought every human did that at some point.

I don't know if you mean doing nothing as in not even thinking? As in the Seinfeld character David Puddy who would sit, stare off and be devoid of thought.

I can't do that. I think I have ADHD as my mind raced continuously as a child. It's "calmed down" as the years have gone by, but I can't clear my mind and think of nothing for very long.

I'm generally sedentary for a decent portion of the day but even then I have to occupy myself with something like the internet, a book, etc.
