Hey ladies

Im wondering how many georgy girls are out there. No not as in women named georgina but this.

A georgy girl is who dresses homely humble looking who by choice keeps this look. Again possibly for comfort or maybe out of routine. Not due to monetary issues, or body size issues.

Do you gripe and complain about the way you look? When you shops you skip the boutiques and trending clothing stores. You skips over the trendy looks and seeks looks, make-up, and clothing the exact same as she already owns. (And buys it by the truckload).

Do you never explores new ideas and bickers with anyone who criticizes you for not. Do you dreams of dressing like Hollywood stars, and runway models but due to her lack of confidence and doesn't believe you can be that look. You fear rejection and humiliation due to clothing, makeup, etc. ?

In a sense your attire reflects her confidence.

Ive met a few in the NTs but i wonder if its more in us.

An example ive seen is a girl i know who only dresses in tshirts tucked in, high water light blue jeans and a belt ( and kinda stands in an awkward stance. Shes young, fit, and make a decent bit. shed look great if she'd dress a tiny bit better.

Alrighty, I'm from the UK and im old, so this was my first thought on Gregory Girl.

You may have looked at me in High School and assessed me as a Gregory Girl. In reality, my parents were poor and I just wore whatever my Mum could afford to buy me.

I'm more stylish now I can afford my own clothes.

He said "Georgy girl".

Not "Gregory girl".

You know... as in "George", not as in "Greg".

Like the Sixties movie, and hit song of the same name. "Hey there Georgy Girl".

Never saw the movie, but the song talks about how "you're always window shopping, but you never buy anything".

I think that the movie is about a particular character of that nickname. its not a term for a type of girl. But I dunno.

Aspie ladies probably are often "Georgy girls" in the sense that they often dress for comfort instead of style.

The term "Georgy Girl" is taken from a 1966 British film of the same name.

Wikipedia wrote:
Plot:
Georgina Parkin (Lynn Redgrave) is a 22-year-old Londoner who has considerable musical talent, is well educated, and has an engaging if shameless manner. On the other hand, she believes herself to be plain and slightly overweight, dresses haphazardly, and is incredibly naïve on the subjects of love and flirtation; she has never had a boyfriend. She has an inventive imagination and loves children.

I'd never heard of the term before, but I don't see why it should be described as a bad thing.

Personally, if I were to meet a "homely", "humble" woman who doesn't degrade herself for the sake of hideously ugly "fashions", my faith in womankind would be restored. It's tedious, narcissistic, "trendy" women who have turned me into something of an asexual.

No. I generally like to dress nicely when I go out, but my duties at work involve a lot of bending, stretching and lifting, so I can't wear dresses that often. I still try to dress as professionally as possible.

The actual "Georgy Girl," in the film, was an evolving character.

Eventually, even though she did do the arranged marriage, she still grew, and was able to accept herself much more than at the beginning.

I saw a video of the Australian group, The Seekers, who performed "Georgy Girl," plus two other songs. It was really good. The female lead singer has a very pretty voice.

Georgy Girl is a lot like "Gigi" with its theme: the awkward girl becoming a beautiful woman.
