Bombing Suspect Arrested in Florida; Charged With 5 Counts

Quote:
A law enforcement official identified the suspect as Cesar Sayoc Jr., 56, of Aventura, Fla., just north of Miami. It was not clear whether the authorities were seeking other suspects or if Mr. Sayoc acted alone...

At a news conference Friday afternoon, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that Mr. Sayoc had been charged with five counts, including illegal mailing of explosives and threats against former presidents. The packages included photographs of the intended targets marked with red Xs, according to a criminal complaint.

The officials said they tracked down Mr. Sayoc after finding his fingerprint on one package sent to Representative Maxine Waters, a California Democrat...

When asked why Mr. Sayoc had sent the bombs to Democrats, Mr. Sessions said he was not sure, adding that the suspect “appears to be a partisan.”

Mr. Sayoc, a registered Republican, has a lengthy criminal history in Florida dating back to 1991 that includes felony theft, drug and fraud charges, as well as being arrested and accused of threatening to use a bomb, public records show.

His criminal record from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement indicates that at the time of his last arrest in 2015, he was 5-foot-11 and 215 pounds. He has brown eyes, black hair and a scar on his left arm, the records said, and was born in New York. The records listed Mr. Sayoc’s occupation as “manager.”

According to a 2012 bankruptcy petition filed in Miami, Mr. Sayoc resided at the time at his mother’s home. “Lives w/mom,” a handwritten note on the petition said. “Has no furniture.” ...

Some residents of Aventura reported seeing a similar white van, the windows of which were plastered with a thick collage of pro-Trump stickers, often parked in the lot of a local strip mall, the Aventura Waterways shopping center. Photos of the van showed that one of the stickers depicted Mr. Trump standing in front of flames and the American flag. Another was of Hillary Clinton’s face in the cross hairs of a rifle scope. A third said: “CNN Sucks.” ...

Speaking on CNN on Friday, Mr. Clapper said he was not surprised that a device had been sent to him. He has been a frequent critic of President Trump, a similarity shared with everyone whose names have appeared on the packages discovered so far.

“This is definitely domestic terrorism,” Mr. Clapper said. “Anyone who has in any way been a critic, publicly been a critic of President Trump, needs to be on an extra alert.”

Who Is Cesar Sayoc? What We Know About The Suspicious Package Suspect So Far

Quote:
The Florida man arrested Friday morning in connection with the series of suspected explosive devices sent to notable Democrats around the country has been identified as Cesar Sayoc. The Department of Justice confirmed his arrest at around 11 a.m.

Sayoc is a 56-year-old man in who was taken into custody in South Florida. He has ties to New York and Florida court documents list his place of birth as Brooklyn.

Sayoc has a lengthy criminal history that dates back to 1991.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Sayoc has been arrested for both grand larceny and petty larceny in the early 90s.

In 2002, he was arrested on a felony charge listed as “Threat to Bomb.” Court documents say Sayoc pleaded guilty to threatening to discharge a destructive device however, the arrest record does not detail who Sayoc’s target was.

In 2004, the 56-year-old was arrested on multiple charges including fraud and drug possession. Five years ago, Sayoc was again charged with larceny and has reportedly violated his probation at least twice since then.

A law enforcement source told CBS News that DNA evidence on one of the 13 devices sent out played a part in leading investigators to the Florida resident. FBI Director Christopher Wray confirmed that a fingerprint on one of the packages, allegedly sent to congresswoman Maxine Waters, belonged to Sayoc.

A van linked to Sayoc, which is being combed over by investigators, appeared to have several images of President Trump on it. It also reportedly featured several anti-Democrat images, including some of the same Democrats who were sent suspicious packages this week.

On Sayoc’s social media accounts, the 56-year-old can be seen attending pro-Trump gatherings in 2016.

Ronald Scott Lowy, an attorney who says he’s represented Sayoc in previous cases, told reporters that his former client has “always had problems dealing with life.”

“I felt that he wasn’t always in his right mind,” Lowy added. Lowy also alleges Sayoc altered his date of birth because he “wanted to look younger.”

The attorney added that the 56-year-old was proud of his heritage as an “American Indian.”

That's a great article, with an appropriate photo of the MAGAbomber:

About his claim to be a Seminole Indian:

Quote:

Cesar Sayoc made posts on social media suggesting an affiliation with Florida’s Seminole tribe, but the tribe has disavowed him. They said in a statement:

“We can find no evidence that Cesar Altieri, Caesar Altieri, Caesar Altieri Sayoc, Ceasar Altieri Randazzo (Facebook) or Julus Cesar Milan (Twitter) is or was a member or employee of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, or is or was an employee of Seminole Gaming or Hard Rock International. At this time, we cannot verify if he is or was an employee of a vendor company.”

This had "MAGA" written all over it from the very start.

His lawyer will be there only to make sure that his rights aren't violated and that "due process" is followed.

How do we know this guy wasn't approached by the left and offered a large sum of money to carry out his shenanigans. Maybe was family was deep in debt and he chose to sacrifice his freedom for the good of his family? That's a plausible scenario, isn't it?

Mail Bombing Suspect Cesar Sayoc Was Extremely Online

Quote:
Earlier today, Cesar Sayoc was arrested by law enforcement for allegedly mailing multiple pipe bombs to prominent Democrats and CNN. His van was plastered with pro-Trump images and photos of Democrats with crosshairs overlaid. Almost immediately, his Twitter and Facebook accounts turned up, filled with far-right vitriol (and some selfies, helping to confirm that the Sayoc in the mugshot and the one in pictures on social media were one and the same).

Several posts feature Sayoc at Trump rallies.

Hey CNN all BS con job fraud puppets media blocked,Banned,Barred from all of our properties feel lucky make our day . You will just vanish pic.twitter.com/BOTOk59Rfs

— Cesar Altieri (@hardrock2016) October 12, 2018

A second Twitter account also in Sayoc’s name features image macros accusing Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum of being in the pocket of George Soros.

His Facebook account has since been deactivated, but one short clip from October 2016 featured Sayoc smiling at the camera, selfie-angled, as Trump speaks behind him, saying, “You take a look at these people, study these people.” (In this case, Trump was encouraging the crowd to be skeptical of women accusing Trump of sexual abuse.)

Other posts on Sayoc’s page made heavy use of racial slurs to refer to politicians like Barack Obama and Maxine Waters, who both had packages addressed to them. One photo shows Sayoc standing outside the Capitol Building during Trump’s inauguration.

Other posts repeated talking points familiar to anyone who has crossed paths with MAGA Twitter. There are posts criticizing NFL players who kneel during the national anthem, posts theorizing that Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg is a Soros lackey (he’s not), and posts reiterating the cruel joke/weaponized speculation that Michelle Obama is a man.

Who cares barred , Banned ,Boycotted 4 life. Your sport weak more padding than armor fighter go cry about everything pic.twitter.com/us85qn6Zi8

— Cesar Altieri (@hardrock2016) August 7, 2018
Last month, Sayoc referred to Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony as a “democrat con job.”

Break out violins fake voice con job. This Ford should be jailed prosecuted of false garbage. This is a sham waste time lies democrat con job. We Unconquered Seminole Tribe agree pic.twitter.com/1CYDsFUyeZ

— Julus Cesar Milan (@hardrockintlent) September 27, 2018

It’s worth considering that the images Sayoc posted were not made by him, but by others who shared his stance. The main thing distinguishing Sayoc is his alleged willingness to act.

On a closing note, it might be worth pointing out that Sayoc was not entirely unknown to Twitter. After commentator Rochelle Ritchie appeared on Fox News earlier this month, Sayoc threatened her on Twitter, posting, “Hug your loved ones real close every time you leave home.” She reported the posts, and Twitter judged that they did not violate the platform’s rules on abusive behavior.

No, it isn't. You'll say anything to spin this into anyone else's fault except a devoted follower of Donald J. Trump.

Face it: There's every valid reason to believe that Cesar Sayoc earned the nickname of MAGAbomber all by himself, not the least of which is that it's the simplest explanation that does not require some convoluted conspiracy theory involving a madman's game of "connect the dots".

But if you have valid empirical evidence that links the MAGAbomber to anyone else, then take it to the prosecuting attorney in the case. Spreading doubt and fear among autistic people may give you a thrill, but doing so only makes you look foolish, and serves no useful purpose whatsoever.

And as more evidence against him is uncovered, and more of his background is revealed, doubting his guilt is rapidly becoming a fool's errand.

The Trump cultists will say the arrest is a liberal hoax, because that fits their belief system and they seem trapped inside it.

I despair for the USA in a very serious way now. The cult members routinely think what Trump tells and wants them to, believe whatever he wants them to believe, do what he wants them to do, behave as he wants them to behave, say what he wants them to say, hate who he tells them to hate, deny what he tells them to deny. He is their cult leader, their guru who can say and do no wrong, and he has worked diligently to establish this mindset by manipulation of their emotions and limited critical faculties. The one time that Trump wasn't lying was when he said that he loves the uneducated, though it is a limited love, one based on the fact that they believe anything he says and act on the divisions he strives to whip up. As people, I think he has nothing but contempt for their gullibity, because I believe he merely uses them as puppets and has no genuine regard for them as people.

It's all about Trump and his ambitions to dominate, and it always has been. Trump has clear and obvious psychopathic features that his followers are either unable to see or wilfully blind toward.

He manifests more psychopathic features at this emergent demagogue stage than Hitler did at the same stage. That should warn people capable of seeing the big picture. Unfortunately his devoted base can't see it, are not capable of seeing it, and are unwitting pawns in a terrible game that is not a harmless game of political chess.

I despair for you all.

I also despair for his opponents. Even if this was carried out by a Trump lunatic it doesn't mean Trump made him do it. There are Democrats openly calling for people to attack Republicans. The divides are getting insane and comparing Trump to Hitler is part of the problem. The Democrats are offering no solutions just creating more divides and getting hysterical about Russia. No one seemed to have a problem when Obama and Clinton were dropping real bombs on civilians across the world. The media was silent and liberals nodded along because their side was doing it. People should reject both parties and drop this phony left vs right and all the madness that goes with it.

You do. It's good for there to be different perspectives. Not just a mob mentality.

While he has opened the Overton window to overt bigotry, the rhetoric he exclaims has been apart of the rights message long before he became relevant. They aren't a cult under his spell... In fact, the gerrymandering and voter suppression tactics of politicians with the same ideological goals made way for his insurgence.

His supporters have waited and wanted the autocrat he purports to be, for a while now. Although there are small pockets of his supporters who are mostly contrarian, identity pols

Yes, it does mean that Trump made him do it. The Trumpist MAGAbomber didn't send his bombs just to any random liberals.

Nothing went to Jill Stein or Sanders. None went to the offices of the Democratic Socialists.

All the bombs - ALL of them - went only to individuals who had been specifically targeted by the Mango Mussolini in his tweets and in his speeches.

Trump did indeed make him do it and no amount of denial changes that elementary fact.

Geez, Louise----I really think VegetableMan was being sarcastic. I got the feeling that he may even have been playing-off of what someone posted the other day about what James Woods said (I THINK that's who it was), and VM was carrying that, over. Anyone who has ever read even ONE of VegetableMan's politics posts, knows he is NOT a supporter of President Trump's!!

Don't go, VM! Just consider the hysterics so many have been in, since the election----I know they don't have to be that way, but.....
