Due to certain unfortunate recent events, please feel free to report any PMs or posts on the public threads with abusive language, bullying in any form, or anything that's too personal and you feel uncomfortable with.

PMs blaming other than users for their problems, and threatening suicide because of other members counts as abuse and a bannable offence.

From time to time there may be people who want to abuse the good nature of some of our users and use manipulative techniques to get their way. Luckily it's not likely to happen much (if at all) but be aware. It can be difficult for many of us to "read between the lines"

You can contact any of the mods if there's anything you're not sure about, whether in a PM or public forum; we're here to help.

I'd say, by trying to apply the forum rules more fairly and equitably, while allowing for freedom of expression and keeping an eye out for stuff which is potentially harmful to users, which is why we rely on this thread, as well as reports and/or PMs to draw our attention to these things. We are very few active mods at present - 3 or 4: some have personal issues to resolve at the moment so those few of us who can visit here, can't possibly see every post or visit every forum / subforum.

There were fairly recent issues which we've been trying to fix - time will tell whether the attempts achieved their purpose. The last thing we want is to drive members away because they were bullied by someone on here. Some of our members have thicker skins, while others, due to the nature of their diversity, will take things more personally. Defining what counts as bullying can be difficult which is why we have to use the rules as they stand - literally at times - but with a modicum of common sense as well.

The bottom line is respect for fellow users.

There are one or two users who can be annoying at times and try to disregard the experiences of others - tending to be extremely dogmatic and dismissive of anything that doesn't square in with their particular theories and opinions. But we have to allow for such idiosyncrasies when we're dealing with people on the spectrum. If they actually break any rules and are reported, we'll act if need be - editing/deleting is one of the options we have.

I don't want to sound like an advertisement for a new takeaway place but we welcome feedback from our users!
