I have this issue with my self-loathing where if I actually find someone I want to get to know better and be friends with, I avoid them because I don't want to bother them. So naturally when one of those people actually expresses the same interest in me, I lose interest in them because I have trouble respecting people who want to be around me. That and I figure they will lose interest when they actually get to know me and that their desire to get closer to me is based on some false conception of me they've created in their head.
Anyone else run into issues like this?

Yes, reject them before they reject you

If it sounds too good to be true, it often (not always) is

Yes, i don't trust them if they're not an outcast or have problems as well. Some of them are sympathetic people that are trying to help though so i give them the chance the help.

In my case it definitely is because I can't even maintain substantial relationships outside of the internet

I have a very hard time believing they like me. It takes quite a bit to convince me they actually like me.

I gave up on friends when I found out that someone who I was friends with at the time had a hand in my at the time boyfriend breaking up with me. I had turned 24 and I wasn't right for a year after that.

Yes I feel reluctant to form social interactions

Many former precious lil "friends" have dumped me

And it was not worth the cost benefit analysis

Maybe it is inevitable they will dump me

Still think about Amy 2012, Anthony the Great 2011, mister redelings 2006

. Every day, ad nauseum

I find that I had a fairly even number of people dropping me as well as me cutting people loose. I've cut many people loose and have broken off more friendships then people leaving me hanging though
