1. How he reacted was exactly right.

2. His basic reaction was correct but he should have fought a nicer war but with more consideration for human rights.

3. He should have captured Iraq like his son did.

4. He should have stayed out and let Saddam do whatever he was going to do.

5. He should have formed an active alliance with Iraq and made a deal with Saddam regarding control of the captured Saudi, Kuwait and Yemani oil fields.

6. Other

I was gonna ask "why didn't you just make this into an actual poll?"

But then I clicked the "start a new topic" button to refresh my memory of how exactly to do that. Then I found that I cant do it either.

Don't see the buttons to click.

So...MODERATORS...what happened? Did you all take away the Poll making option? Or I am I missing something?

Do not care about a popularity contest about the options.

In the wake of his death, the Gulf War has been mostly praised as heroic and a few have criticized it as mass murder based on lies but these critics have not said what he should have done. I am legitimately interested in the answers to my question. I am somewhat interested in alternate histories.

We should have at least tried to negotiate with Saddam before rushing into war with Iraq. Yes, I know that sounds like a weak and naïve position -- and many of Saddam's demands were unreasonable -- but when human lives are on the line, why not exhaust every avenue before dropping bombs? Was it right to carpet bomb the civilian infrastructure so savagely? Perhaps from a military perspective, maybe it was. It's just very hard for me to accept such death and destruction as righteous.

That whole propaganda campaign regarding the babies being taken out of incubators by Iraqi soldiers was utterly revolting after it was proven to have never occurred.

The add a poll button hasn't gone anywhere. Here's a screenshot I took a few minutes ago that shows it's still there.

Saddam lined up his tanks along the Saudi Arbian border.

Saudi Ambassador Prince Bandar pleaded with President Bush to stop Iraq.

Did we even care about Kuwait??

It seems like the problem was that Saddam Hussein was threatening US oil interests.
