According too my dad my uncle works in “everything”
A "Jack of All Trades" or a "General Contractor"?

The OP is from England. They don't use there term general contractor in the UK, that's an Americanism (or a no-longer-used Britishism). They would say main contractor for private work, prime contractor for government-backed bids.

Regardless, the uncle sounds like a jack-of-all-trades type.

My dad works in construction, does carpentry nowadays & he's pretty friendly. He really likes talking to people when he sees somebody he knows. He doesn't socialize with people a lot outside of work thou unless he runs into somebody he knows while he's out somewhere.
