This is a classic autistic issue.

It can be very debilitating.

Has anyone ever found ways round it? I classically have spent my whole life being kept stuck by not seeing the big picture, but just the ''fixed'' details, and messing my life up beyond description as a result

I appreciate that this can also be a strength/superpower in certain situations.

Thoughts??

I can get quite productively focussed on details to produce very efficient machines, but I have also always had a keener appreciation for long-range connections than most people. This probably arose from my initial curiosity and confusion about life. When I see some feel-good story about a rescued pet, I also sense a wild animal driven to starvation to provide pet food. I can't throw things "away" - I know where they go.
