I suffer from a number of chronic health problems and its got me stressed quite recently - both physical and mental related challenges.
I've had asthma and eczema since birth, and these conditions aren't exactly improving. The worst is my genetic eczema, in recent years its all over my body and is debilitating at times and disruptive despite applying creams.
I have painful wisdom teeth subject to be removed as well and I fear the outcome of the surgery and if it would cause me more long term discomfort if something went wrong.
Mental related mostly revolves around my diagnosis of course, but sub-issues around that like social anxiety, obsessions and bunch of other things.

Anyone have multiple health challenges they manage and strategies on doing so effectively? I know mine aren't the worst conditions out there but it feels difficult at times having a number of long term conditions.

Thanks

I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed at once. I think they put me under anesthesia to remove them. So I was a little groggy for several hours. But no problems after that. I remember the dentist that removed my teeth had really really powerful arm muscles. So if I have any words of advice here is find a very strong dentist.

I had asthma. I found this out later in life. It explained why I had problems running long distances. I began using ProAir HFA inhaler. It is a rescue inhaler but generally I was using it all the time.
I took a supplement called Juvenon which helped my breathing substantially. The supplement is available over the internet.
After several years I stopped using the rescue inhaler and switched to Adair diskus (fluticasone propionate 250 mcg/salmeterol 50 mcg inhalation powder) instead. This was very effective at controlling my Asthma. Work this prescription medicine through your doctor.
Then I had weight loss surgery and dropped 120 pounds. After a few years the lost weight placed my asthma into remission. So I no longer take prescription medicine to control it. I still take Juvenon but I no longer take any prescription medicine to control this condition.

A few years ago I broke out with eczema all over my legs. There are many causes so this may not work for you. Consult your doctor. I was told to always wash with a very pure soap [Dove Sensitive Skin] and then apply a prescription cream called Triamcinolone Acetone Ointment 0.1%. I put this on a couple times per day, then once per day, then only as needed. It took care of the problem. I had a 1 pound jar and so far in the last 3 years, I have used around half the jar. Triamcinolone is a topical steroid.

When I had severe health issues I had an early and strict bedtime. I was in my 30s and 40s and would go to bed at 9PM. I think it helped a lot.

These days I don't have to do that, but sometimes I will go to sleep at "odd" hours if I need it.

It may also help to limit or control stress triggers, like web sites that cause anxiety.

It may also help to get regular "exercise." Basically anything that gets you out of a chair and moving around. I do things that improve my balance, walking, and range of motion.

I've had BAD eczema as a kid & been using Dove all my life. I HATED the creams & lotions cuz of sensory issues so I refused to let my parents put them on. I kind of outgrew the eczema in my teens but it started coming back a few years ago. I take 20mg of Prednisone 5 days a week which helps. There's also other oral meds that can sometimes be. If the eczema flares up partly due to allergies, it may help to take an antihistamine & the med Singulair/Montelukast. I take both for allergies & they help alittle. Singulair is also used to help asthma. There's also a shot for eczema I seen advertised on TV recently called Dupixent/Dupilumab. I was occasionally given Cortizone shots as a kid when my eczema was bad. Other times I was occasionally given some oral steroids but not the Prednisone.

I have LOTS of health conditions including mental & physical 1s all my life. I've dealt with them by researching the various conditions & trying to treat some that have treatments. It's a trial & error process

I have multiple chronic illnesses, MHE, Severe chronic urticaria, severe IBS-D, and gastroparesis. I manage by researching treatment options. Patients might be lulled into believing that their doctors will volunteer all possible treatment options for their disease, this is certainly not the case. In reality there are likely many treatment options that your doctors couldn't be bothered to share with you and tell you that you just have to live with it because it isn't their life.

Eczema for example there is phototherapy(covered by medicare here in Ontario) might be covered by the NHS. There is also CBD oil, LDN, certain autoimmune diets, and others just off the top of my head and of course biologics drugs.

That's very true. I've had much better luck researching treatments & meds & then asking my GP for them then I ever had expecting my docs, psychs & other specialists to suggest things & going along with them.

One thing I should of mentioned about Singulair is that my girlfriend is on it for asthma & recently quit taking it for a bit. She's on a lot of meds & wanted to see if it was really doing anything or not so she'd get off it if it wasn't. Anyways both her & I noticed that her asthma was worse off it. She was wheezing more & using her rescue inhaler more often. she didn't notice any side-effects from getting off & then getting back on it.
