new from PA - hello!

It's a relief to find this forum!

It's only been a few months since I self-diagnosed with Asperger's. I'm in my 50s and believe my daughter is also on the spectrum. She agrees. But neither of us knows the best steps forward.

Formal evaluations? How much to disclose to others? Obtaining support? All of that is undecided to us.

I'm close to both Philly and NYC, and would love advice about connecting with both peers and good professionals who are experienced in dealing with females on the spectrum.

Welcome to Wrong Planet. Several on-line tests exist on the Internet. They are not official but they may be a bit of information that reinforces the validity of your self-diagnosis.

Welcome to Wrong Planet. Glad to see another elder here. I just started posting about a year ago when I figured out I had autism. I was afraid it would all be young people, but there are a number of us who have been around more than a few decades. I used some of the online tests. WP has some links posted on a sticky. Like you, I found this forum a real relief, finding others who were as weird as I am. Some people will tell you you must get an official diagnosis, but not to participate in this forum, you don't. :D
