As others have said, being part of society. You can't leave, and you can't join. I want to get out and be in the middle of nowhere and just live in a hut but I'm not allowed to do that without working in some massive company and constantly being a servant of someone else.

I have lots of other disabilities besides my autism but if I had to pick an autism thing I struggled with the most, I would say dating & romantic relationships. Some of my problems were partly due to comorbids like anxiety & OCD. I desperately wanted a romantic realtionship when I was single but I struggled majorly with communication issues. Women were not direct, straightforward enough with me(played mind games) & they misinterpreted what I said a lot, I was blunt, & rude/offensive. If I didn't have my autism I would still have a lot of my other disabilities but I would of been better able to compensate by having better social skills. Women would of at least been willing to give me a chance if I had charisma.

You must be, said the Cat, or you wouldn't have come here.

Obsessing over a woman when I like her. To the point that all I want to do is think about her, listen to love songs, watch romantic films and talk to her. My brain seems to struggle multi-tasking.

Being easily overwhelmed, stressed and vulnerable to information and emotion overload (the former being a big problem higher school like junior and high school)

no ability to multitask

some analysis paralysis

little to no ability to keep at it if it's thoroughly uninteresting, to say nothing of plain boring (is this ADD or ASD, I still wonder)

I could deal with all of it with no real complaint, but I find my limited pool of energy to be quite stifling. I've got stuff I want to do.

I struggle most with my lack of independence. I'm working to improve, but the most basic tasks require so much concentration and effort - it's exhausting. The traits I struggle with most are sensory dysfunction (primarily visual processing issues) and shutdowns. I also have significant trouble with executive functioning, but it's nowhere near as bad as when I was a kid.

I am saying the same exact thing for me.

Impaired executive functioning. It takes so much energy, I have little left for things I enjoy.

I would say communication because someone could be doing something and I could say good night to them when it isn't even night time. I also get lost in thought a lot. As long as something doesn't hold me or anyone else back I am proud to have it because it is a part of who I am.
