Gladio

My definition of the Deep-State is broadly how economic powers erode democracy, but armies can also be part of a deep-state like thing.
I had heard of the word Gladio before, but paid little attention to it at the time. Gladio is the name of a type of underground satellite army. Both literally and figuratively underground, figuratively because there was no control from the upper world. And literally because the weapons stores were mostly underground.
A characteristic of this type of underground Deep-State network is that it can lead a 'life of its own', which in itself is very logical that it can lead a 'life of its own', because there is no control from the upper world. It takes little imagination to see that weapons in an underground network can end up in the wrong hands.

Being a pacifist is great.
But if the guy who wants to kill you is not a pacifist too, you have a problem.

Not sure how this addresses the issue. But, OK.

My heart is with pacifists, but my head just cant grasp how Pacifism is supposed to work.

Ever heard of a place in the news called "Ukraine"?

How would a Pacifist version of the Ukraine stop Russian aggression against their country?

The most powerful weapon to achieve/maintain peace is the realization that both nationalities and religion are not nature identities, they are brainwashed nurture identities in the minds of people. Also within capitalism, religion and nationalism are a handy 'tool' to mold their minds.

John Lennon incorporated the 'no countries and no religions' into his beautiful peace song 'Imagine'

Which "Peacekeeper" would you rather have defending your family from armed terrorists; this one . . .

. . . or this one?

Depending on the situation.
Here and now, we need them both.

With all respect, when someone assaults you, murders, rapes and loots your civilian population and tries to beat you up to conform to their sick ideology, this kind of pacifism is a great enabler of evil.
It would be great if people just loved and respected each other... but so far, sadly, agressive bullies who understand only the language of power still exist.

Uh, Magz?

Armed terrorists . . . coming after you and your family . . . the bard will get trampled first.

Don't underestimate artists.
Ukraine is fighting so fiercely and getting international support thanks to their high morale. Without it, they wouldn't have lasted 72 hours.
If one comedian accepted a lift, things would likely be looking completely different now.

Here and now, terrorists are not coming to my home, thanks to the soldiers patrolling our borders. And a lot of traumatized refugees need the healing power of singing together. So, here and now, we need both. And plenty of yet other kinds.
