I don't know how the laws work over there but over here in the US spitting on someone is assault. I have to hope something similar can be said about smacking someone in the head with food products. In both situations there really isn't room not to escalate.

Quick question, as I have watched many of the violent antifa protester videos, one thing keeps striking my mind. If someone gets directly in your face screaming, why are you not allowed to hit them? I though 'provoking' people was supposed to allow someone to react. Also, it is common for them to spit on people, is that also a form of provoking?

I watched one case in the past where a guy beat another guy down with a shovel on camera, the guy with the shovel got off free of charge because the other guy was provoking him. Now we have people putting horns up to people's ears, which can cause physical damage to one's eardrum, and people are acting as if you cannot strike them, you have to stand there and take it or out run them to get away? Why is this??

Pepe, what a mighty strange guy in that video!

It was a show in the 70's called "The Aunty jack show" it was funny, but probably not PC these days.

I remember when a boy bullied me at school my Dad told him if he came near me again he'll rip his Bloody arms off :D

Egg boy is getting rewarded for his criminal activity through free products and lifetime access to some venues, if my memory serves me correctly...
This 17-year-old virtue signalling schnösel is the poster boy for our "brave new world"...

It was an egg...what is with people calling things that wont leave a bruise or a wound 'violence'? unkind, not necessary, rude, harassment those all seem they could describe cracking an egg over a person well enough...but violence. I'd say the recent mosque shooting was 1,000 times more violent than throwing an egg at someone or cracking one on someone could ever be.

Seriously?
Hmmm...

How would you react to someone egging you on, so to speak, or throwing a urine-filled condom at you, or worse?
You do realise that "small" hatreds can and do grow into large hatreds...
Then you have groups created supporting and encouraging further hatred, which is happening in this instance...

And consider:
Today an egg...
Tomorrow a howitzer!... 8O

I would have thought you would have been against all forms of disrespect...(err...big business excepted, of course... )
Hmmm, perhaps that's only my thing...<shrug> 8)

And there I was striving to be a rational person who is capable of civil discussion...
What was I thinking?... 8O
<heads off to the supermarket to buy a dozen 900gm eggs>

Pax...

Boy attacked with egg. Boy got himself slapped for his trouble. Transaction over, not much more needs be said.

Also, with regards to "it was just and egg/peanut butter/random food substance, no need for violence etc."...Suppose the guy who was hit was deathly allergic to, say, peanuts? Would that be nothing, or would that then be "attempted murder"?

Also also, emptying egg shells and putting nasty and/or poisonous stuff inside is an old ninja trick.

<serious mode activated>

Q: Would anyone here seriously throw an egg at someone in this context?

Is there a more creative, intelligent and civil alternative in making a political point?
Isn't emotive activism simply promoting more emotional responses?
How does heightening emotionalism at the expense of rationalism improve prospects of achieving a rational solution?
Why/how is it reasonable to employ a: "The end justifies the means" philosophy here?
And what is the end?
Social justice through intimidation and common assault?
Surely there is something inherently wrong here...
Assuming one wishes to advance social evolution to a higher ethical standard...
