I hate wires. They are the bane of my existence. I feel as if a lot of other autistic people have uttered these same exact words. Wires are just a disgrace of nature. They give me anxiety. When I'm untangling wires, you know that madness is about to ensue because they irk me SO MUCH! WHY?! And I know why. I know exactly why, down to the core.
1. I hate wires because they are cumbersome.
2. they are objects to trip over
3. they look intestinal
4. Even right now, I just spent 8 minutes trying to untangle my laptop wire from my headphone wires whilst positioning myself comfortably on my lovesac - it was a nightmare!
5. they get awfully grimy next to my laptop because the ferret cage is adjacent to my desk, so whenever I have to move them for whatever reason, I need to wash the filth off my hands immediately after!
6. untangling them over long periods of time stresses me out and raises my blood pressure to an unhealthy extent
7. I could ultimately kill my laptop by simply tripping over the wire, and send the whole thing flying
8. Why can't more things be made wireless? Actually, scratch that...nano-technology and 5-g radio wavelengths are what cause autism in the first place, or they're all connected rather, but that's for another time
9. they're boring...of course I'm sure they're the opposite of boring if you knew enough about them and what's inside them
10. Last but not least, over four hundred electrocutions occur every year thanks to wires, so there!
WIRES SUCK!

Yeah...wires can be a pain in the butt sometimes.

I'm glad most computers are wireless these days.

And why I hate wires the very most is that they remind me that my brain is a tangled mess of wires that I cannot quite straighten out.

My weight.

I can't seem to get comfortable in my clothes.

I'm 5 foot 5, and weigh about 180 lbs.

I wish I could feel comfortable all day long---but, instead, I feel fat.

so tell me about your autism

I've been autistic all my life. I was diagnosed at age 3 in 1964 because I had no speech, and I had a strong tendency to destroy things.

Fortunately, I developed speech at age 5. Fortunately, I got a civil service job at age 19, and I'm still at that job.

If I was a troll, I would have been given the boot long ago.

Okay, so what you don't realize is that I'm an autistic 26 year old who literally picked up an extra shift at work so I could have something to do with my Friday, and I enjoy my stressful, high paced job.

I'm not capable of doing a "high-paced" job like you are.

I'm fortunate for my low-paced, mostly solitary job.

I wish I could just up and "pick up an extra shift so I'll have something to do."

PS: If you ever seen me on the subway, your opinion of me would change drastically.
