One of the local places I put in an application was the local humane society. Now they want to interview me in person on Wednesday... I did used to take care of animals at nature centers but I wish it payed more, but has the advantage of not needing relocation. Hmm...

Good luck on the interview. If you are offered the job, take it. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

I still wish you could get the Lansing job....that will be job security once you complete the 6 months or 1 year probation.

But good luck in this interview, anyway.

The job sounded like it was mostly cleaning up dog crap and I don't think I could handle much of that and get payed so low...

Oh, and I contacted two jobs I applied to, the Lansing one and the Detroit bird job. They both emailed me back, the Lansing one is still deciding who to interview, the Detroit one said it will be a couple of weeks before they decide who to interview and they are only going to interview the top three candidates.

I found an ad for another permanent job kinda like the Lansing one but more to do with birds... But it's out of state and I'm kinda concerned I applied for it too late because the job has been up for about a month... Arrghhh...

A month is sometimes not a long time for a job to be "on the market." I've seen jobs "out there" over six months.

It doesn't hurt to apply.

I believe my second job was "on the market" for about month when I applied.
