Didn't know whether this belonged in the Literary Section or not but here is a quiz to entice book lovers of the forum to impart knowledge of material that may have had or has an initial bearing on the influence of the reader.
Of course, you might wish to impart an author because you have heard of them somewhere.
To help start -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_a ... by_name:_A

Carmine Abate (born 24 October 1954) is an Italian writer. He has written numerous short stories, novels and essays, mainly focusing on issues of migration and the encounters between disparate cultures

Just to note, this quiz is structured alphabetically in order of last names, as it is easier to search for one, should someone want to participate. They may or may not include a short description.

Silas Marner, 1861
Romola, 1863
Felix Holt, the Radical, 1866

Gaskell is one of the most overlooked Victorian authors. Her biography of Charlotte is controversial, but her novels are brilliant. I'm rereading Ruth right now. I'd recommend it first. It's a fallen woman, unwed mother theme.
