Autscape is an autistic conference. It is run by and for autistic people. The environment and content of the event are centred around autistic people's needs, interests and sensitivities. Nearly all of the audience are autistic people.

Autscape 2019 registration is open, and the information on bursaries has been published.

Information on registration:
http://www.autscape.org/2019/registration/

Information on bursaries:
http://www.autscape.org/2019/registrati ... arybooking

Registrations received up to 3pm on April 19th will be held and
processed together in a random order.

All bursary applications received up to that point will be processed by
the bursary committee shortly after.

After that time, both registrations and bursaries will be processed on a
first come, first served basis.

As many of you have noticed, registration has been open for a few days,
and some places have already been allocated. We apologize for the delay
in informing everyone equally. For those who apply by April
19, this is not likely to affect the chances of getting a place.

We hope to see you at Autscape!

The Autscape Board

I've clicked om all the links and read everything. It seems like a very good programme. The trouble is that I don't have the means to fly to the UK.

There is a similar event in Michigan in August:

Perhaps you could get there by greyhound?

Will there be one in the Anaheim (CA/USA) area anytime soon?

This isn't the kind of event that I'm interested in attending, so I'm probably not in a suitable position to complain, but I took a look at that handbook out of curiosity, as I've seen the Autscape name pop up a lot over the years.

That is one heck of a lot of rules to try and remember and adhere to. Am I in a minority of people who would find a colour-coded-badge based social interaction system incredibly confusing and difficult to work with?

Maybe you are, but I also find it difficult.
I attended many Autscapes and I still forget to look at people's badges before I approach them.
Luckily, most people are kind enough to forgive me.
Also luckily, the coloured badges are totally optional and most attendees don't wear them.

It would be nice if there were a similar event somewhere near NYC. (For me, taking a bus trip to and from Michigan would consume too much additional time.)

Personally I think the rules are a good idea, as long as it is understood and accepted that people won't necessarily remember them all and may need to be reminded.

It seems to me that the rules are indeed necessary in order to accommodate a wide variety of autistic people, as per the conference's aim. And it's good to have the rules stated in a published handbook, as well as at the orientation, so that people can be prepared.

At the very least, having a bunch of EXPLICIT rules is much better than all the UNWRITTEN rules of typical NT gatherings.

We have a small number of one day places available this year. Some are for Tuesday 13th August and some for Wednesday 14th August. These are for one day only and do not include an overnight stay:
