More of a term than a phrase, and not considered extreme by most people, but I abhor; "sustainable growth". The old saying that economics is the "dismal science" gives it too much credit; if it were a "science", it would recognise the physical conservation laws, which make very clear that infinite growth from finite resources is an oxymoron. Even flat-earthers generally accept that the Earth is of finite extent, but not most mainstream economists nor the politicians who cite them, it seems. Since Marxist economic theory also assumes that an excess of goods will be eternally possible, the left are usually just as prone to this one as people who embrace capitalist laissez-faire economics.
