Do they have smartphones in Asia? Do you always need a social security number to buy a phone in another country?

Samsung is from Asia , as is Sony, and bunch others. Most are made in Asia so yes they have lots of cell phones in Asia why?

You don’t need a social security number for that, is someone asking for yours? It’s probably a scam.

Not only they have smartphones in Asia, but almost all smartphones were assembled there. Iphones are very popular in China, for example (Trump is working very hard to change this).

And no, most countries do not use social security numbers. However, in some countries you need to provide some type of personal identification when acquiring a new SIM card.
