So my bro hates clothes he's 26 yrs old we don't make wear anything at home. So my question is do you let you autistic ones be naked in the home? Just for the sake of comfort?

Is he generally compliant about wearing clothes outside the home? I'm sure you and your family realize that, for one reason or another, you may not always be able to be his primary caregivers. Preparing for different boundaries in different places will help him in the long run.

It’s ridiculous for him to be naked around others—unless the “other” is a lover.

I can understand that your family might be trying to avoid another battle and are trying to take his sensory issues into consideration, but I agree with the other comments and think that this is something you all need to start working on.

Maybe just start out with having him wear shorts and a loose tee shirt (with no tag) around the house. You could make him part of the process and have him pick out things he likes that he’d want to wear, so he’d feel less like he was being made to do something he doesn’t want to do.

With my own kid, I’ve found that trying to think of these sorts of things makes all the difference. It’s great that you all are concerned about his comfort. It sounds like he has a lot of support.

He should at least wear underwear.

I guess I'm super weird because my attitude is essentially that if it doesn't bother anyone, then there's no issue. If it does bother anyone, then I guess work your way up to wearing certain clothes...underpants, robe, pajamas, etc.

While we have few problems with clothing outside of the home, my boys and I will frequently strip down to nothing but lightweight shorts as soon as we get home. Sometimes just the sensation of something on thw skin is too much.

Lots of NT people are naturists/nudists and routinely wear nothing at home.

If his family are nudists, that’s another story.

But he still can’t go out of his house naked.

The OP seemed to make it clear the severely autistic brother is the only naked one in the family and basically asked if that was okay or not.

I myself can't stand having clothes on indoors in the summer. But I at least am expected to wear my boxerbriefs.

The thing is though after 26 years it seems rather late to start implementing new procedures.

He never stated how “severe” his autism is.

Based on what he said, the brother seems rather severe, and possibly nonverbal.

Whatever trolls’ agendas usually are. Perhaps a jab at autistics.

He said repeatedly in that post that they let his brother do whatever he wants.
