Hi! I have been in retail for 18 years of my life and am ready to move out of it! Quotas and I do not mix! Hehe! What about Data Entry? I am going to school to earn a certificate for it! I’ve always thought it was a good fit for me.
Any advice would help me!:)

Everyone is different, but here goes...
My job involved 80% sitting on my own, writing reports and messing with spreadsheets. The other 20% was dealing with people. The 80% bit was great. My ideal job would have been sitting in a room on my own... or even with other people and just working away. It was meeting and interacting with strangers that I hated.
My advice would be to make a list of the things you like... maybe solitude and repetitive tasks... and the things you hate. Break it down into bite sized chunks and see how it measures up to the job you are thinking about.
Then consider other issues... like...
Do you want to be challenged?
Are you happy to do boring repetition (it's easy but can actually become stressful in itself)?
Do you get a lot of self-worth/self-fulfilment from your employment, or are you not bothered?
Do you have lots of hobbies or thing to do at the weekend? I always lived for the stuff I did at the weekend, so the job wasn't that important to me for self-fulfilment.

Data entry was better than retail, for me

Data entry less social

But some retail jobs are more social than others

I've done data entry for a variety of companies. The biggest thing is being able to reach out to people, sometimes you need more details so you need to have confidence to tell people what you need. The work itself is great, generally consistent and rather repetitive. These jobs can be hard to find though so make sure you have a backup plan.

If you're a fast typist, then yes, it's a perfect job for anyone who likes repetition, predictability and routine. However, if you do not live in a big city a job like that can be almost impossible to find, as I know through bitter experience. :(

Excellent job. I’ve been doing data entry for 39 years.
