Those whistles that coaches blow? They are loud.

I used to and then I had to use one as part of my job. I need to explain more...
I used to jump at any sudden loud noise and I dissliked loud noises. Even people shouting...
When I had a job on the railway there would be many sudden loud noises like a train going past the one I was working at speed etc. After a while I grew immune to sudden surprizes, and while on that job, as it had ever changing shift patterns where no start time would be the same as the next day other then a rare occasion, my body became numb with tiredness. I would have days of being physically numb. I just didn't jump when someone tried to give me a fright! I left the railways in 2007 and slowly I started to jump when I have a sudden unexpected noise again.
As part of the guards job on the railways, yes, I used to use the whistle daily and it even gave me a fright when I blew it!

Yes. They are shrill and annoying.

I can't stand when people whistle, either.

Sports coaches usually use a pea whistle. The "pea" is a little round bit placed inside the whistle housing that helps produce that loud shrill trilling sound. With apologies to dear CockneyRebel, those things are not sweet peas.

They are piercing. I've always hated those whistles.

Whistles are useful in the Final Fantasy games but I find them kinda loud offline. They don't bother me a whole lot thou. I don't find slide-whistles too loud but they can get annoying after a bit. I'm not bothered by people whistling either but like the slide-whistles the whistling can get annoying after bit. I liked the song in the movie Snow White that goes Whistle While You Work. Do people who hate whistles hate that movie because of the song :?

Any sudden noise that breaks a dead silence makes me jump in the air.

Precisely especially precious lil "people's" voices and dogs

Then they act like they are so innocent and have never done anything wrong before in their lives and "the meaning of life is helping people!"
