Hi, I don't know those languages, but I have a question. What kind of website do you want to make? What is it about?

I want to create a website to illustrate the biodiversity about what I learn, about me (about my inspirations), about a program with a video game for doing a collection, and my drawing, etc.

I know I can use a « doing website program » but I prefer to do one like alone... except if somebody wants to participate.

Sorry for my english, but I am a french person.

Thanks a lot to answer.

I'm also learning to make websites. I already know C/C++, has some bases with HTML and CSS. And I find javascript easy even though I never program with this language.

Years ago I made some webpage for a project. I recycled it to make my personal website in 2018.

I have a new website, http://synman.net, which is about 'retrofiction' (a kind of uchrony mixed with LARPing). I made it with an old Macintosh program I used in Sheepshaver (a Macintosh emulator).

I also happen to have French as a first language. If you want some help, I can possibly help you. So yes, I want to participate. :-)

A couple decades ago, I decided to create a website using HTML. It wasn't a hard language to learn. They have many tools/programs that help you to create webpages and websites today. But in the early years there was relatively nothing. So I never had training, I just built stuff.

So my words of advise - The Internet is full of websites and webpages. Look for ones that you like then look underneath at the HTML coding that produced the page. All the tricks that others used are in the design visible under the curtain. Just lift the curtain and it will teach you how to design.

Back in the very early days, it was a custom to place a famous quote at the top of your website in order to give it a little flavor. This trend went out of vogue a long time ago. When I built my website I couldn't think of any quote that any famous person wrote, so I wrote my own. Here is the quote:

Events shape our lives, even distant and dark ones. From the time I was a wee little one, I have stopped my fear of dark places. I pick up my torch and journey alone through darkened corridors leading down into bottomless caverns of events past. I stumble upon the remnants of an intricate puzzle, which I bring back with me, and in the quiet of my dreams, are assembled before me.

JavaScript is easy enough. here is my first JavaScript from about 11.55 years ago. i do Python now, but that can still include JavaScript. Python would be for the server?

I have a post I'm trying to get approved. As a new user, I am unable to post links, and for this particular post I need to post them.

Hopefully they will let me.

I'm a Golang programmer. I also know JS, html, some python, some VB, I'm not very good at CSS, but I have built websites. I'm currently working on one.

Go is a fairly new language, approx 10 years, but you can build robust, fast concurrent back ends with it.

Code:
https://golang.org/

The neat thing about GO is the native support for concurrency.  It uses a concept called goroutines. Think of goroutines as inexpensive threads.  You would write something like this.
[code]
func main() {

go func(){
  //the go keyword is what you use to start a goroutine.
    //do some background task here like fetch an external resource that takes some time.
}()  // as soon as this begins to execute, execution of the main function continues, and this continues concurrently in the 'background'

//do your foreground task here

//the two processes will run concurrently.

}

This is just a basic example, but hopefully you get the idea.

It is my language of choice for back end development and anything that isn't a thick client.

This is an excellent resource for learning:

https://play.golang.org/

Along with the docs:

https://golang.org/doc/

And these three videos in particular:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8LgvuEBraI -- An very fast paced introduction to Go.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvgVSSpwND8 -- An introduction to concurrency in Go.

And this video featuring Rob Pike, one of the developers of GO does an excellent job of explaining concurrency and how to use it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cN_DpYBzKso

It has some support for GTK and Qt 5 etc, but it is not full featured for GUI, although there is a pretty good TUI library.

https://github.com/marcusolsson/tui-go

I prefer to use GORM for object relational management. It makes your DB development work go a LOT faster.
It's pretty sane as far as ORMs go. Works great with MariaDB.

https://gorm.io/

mysql/maria, or cockroachdb are my dbms of choice.

https://mariadb.org/

https://www.cockroachlabs.com/product/

For front end, I prefer JS, Jquery, HTML, CSS and Bootstrap 4. I'm not keen on 5 yet.

https://jquery.com/ -- Jquery simplifies a lot of JS you would have to write.

Bootstrap 4 has a great grid system, and also speeds development.

https://getbootstrap.com/docs/4.0/getti ... roduction/

I'd be happy to answer questions and help a little when I can, but I can't really get too involved because my other project is fairly time consuming, but I hope these resources are helpful.

I am happy to help any way I can though.

( I guess I only needed 5 posts to post links. again, I'm happy to help if you want)
