Shoehorning isn't a thing I'm in a favour of. I will read a book or watch a film about a minority character as the protagonist quite happily, it only if it's got a good story, dialogue etc.

It's the half heartedness I'm against.

But yes please, more characters from all sorts of backgrounds.
