In this thread, we can talk about what we’d like our ideal partners to be like. It may be too similar to the “Deal Makers” thread, but I wanted to hear you describe an ideal mate apart from just a few desirable traits. Let’s try to avoid negative judgements towards others opinions (a little reminder for people such as myself :P ). Also, this thread is LGBT friendly!!

I want someone who shares similar interests, so he needs to be educated (self-educated would be fine) and well-read. I like being able to discuss philosophy and literature!

I’d prefer someone with similar political leanings who isn’t super religious to avoid irritation and fights (doesn’t have to be an atheist, though)

Likes children and is good with them

Good, deep-rooted moral values (hugely important!)

Compassionate

Empathetic

Good listener

Not overly self-absorbed (the relationship is made up of two people and not just one)

A great sense of humor

Not clingy or too distant

Has a positive outlook and life goals

Is patient

Has a strong romantic side

Is a good lover or, at least, attempts to be

Is respectful towards women!

Good hygiene is also important :P

Likes my quirks and isn’t put off by them

I’m not in any hurry to get into a relationship and would be fine if I never had one again, actually, so I’m pretty choosy and won’t get involved with someone who doesn’t fill these requirements. I also wouldn’t be afraid to give someone the boot.

I’ve found that being single is better than being with someone who is subpar.

Roughly 170 years old, 300 - 500 pages, smells like paper.

Female.
Loves me despite my failings.
Who wants to know God or who knows God.
Will hold my hand and not let go.
Will be willing to be where I feel I should be.
Be willing to help me in the things I am not so good at.
Be willing to accept my help when she needs it.
Wont mind being loved and cherished.
Will be devoted to me and I will be devoted to her.

That's sweet. God/Christianity are important for me, too, though I don't know whether I'm allowed to say that.

I'm an agnostic atheist---but religion certainly isn't a dealbreaker.

I've never actually gone out with an atheist LOL

I know with me it is a big thing. I am surprized you have not dated another atheist.

I couldn’t be with someone who is very religious and conservative (i.e. a fundamentalist). Been there, done that, moving on!

I don’t have to be with an atheist, though, either.

I've had a couple proselytize to me----but, soon, they realized that I'm pretty set in my religious (nonreligious) ways.

Why?

Depending on the age of the lady, you could probably have between 10 and 20 children still.

Just another life path to keep in mind.

One kid is more than enough!

I wish Marknis would come into this thread. And describe what he likes in a partner.

And I promise that nobody will mock him.

I’m only being silly about things that are obviously silly.

I’d like to hear some serious responses, too.

Mine was serious...
Oh.. Also to add to mine. Due to the complexities of travel and dating etc, it helps if my ideal wife is allowed to live in the UK., as I am staying in Wales for the forseeable future. I know Wales. I am on edge to travel too far outside Wales.

What do you like in a woman, Marknis?
