I hate needles, so naturally I decided to become a blood donor. I find the giant needle actually hurts less than regular ones, though that might just be the skill of the nurses. Been giving blood for four or five years now.

i turn white when i get the needle. i can't even stand the sight of a needle going into flesh, the way it grotesquely puckers the skin around the poke point before it goes through. and the metallic splintery feels as it goes in. yuck. :eew:

I donate plasma all the time, so I'm used to it. I still hate that initial poke though. They use big needles that hurt.

that's 'cause they're in a hurry, in and out. in the army they poked me with an 18 ga. OUCH!! :x bastards.

Haha yeah, it's kind of annoying (and scary) getting pricked by people who have a "I hate my job!" kind of attitude.

But it's good to help others and we need the money. :)

ouch. hope you got adequate pain relief.

I had an epidural for the first so I was awake for the surgery,it didn’t work for the second so I had general anesthesia.Pain meds right after surgery than none since I was breast feeding.

I think the usual interpretation is that it leads to a bad reincarnation. Which is why poor and sick people deserve it, because they were clearly bad people in previous lives.

Or rebirth, whichever term you choose to use.The believe is also that people who are crappy to you on this life are repaying you for being crappy to them on a past life.So the more good things you do in this life assure you of a better rebirth.Of course some of that depends on how you deal with the Bardo.I attended teaching on the Bardo from Khentrul Lordo Thaye Rinpoche.

The thing about childbirth pain is that it’s somewhat dulled by the excitement of meeting the new arrival. It was for me, anyway. When the pain got almost unbearable, I’d think about the baby and how I’d be able to see him soon. I was ill for the entire pregnancy so I was used to focusing on what was to come.

The most difficult and painful part of my labor was when I nearly lost him.

The thing about dying is that it scares me. I'm not really afraid of the pain (unless I'm delibertly being tortured to death by some psycho), but I am afraid of the unknown, or the idea of not existing after death.

*sigh* I wish people did not have to die.
