Are Psychopaths Happy?

Hi all at WP,

I thought you may be interested in this article on Psychology Today. I am posting this message as a result of being in a friendship and relationship with a Psychopath.
I would not like you guys to experience what I have experienced.

Are Psychopaths Happy?

Almost by definition, the answer has to be no.

No. I couldn't imagine them to be.

Many people who act like they're happy on the outside are miserable on the inside, not just psychopaths. Our society puts too much pressure on us to act happy when we really aren't, or tell us to take a pill.

I think psychopaths are happy whenever they're hurting other people and getting away with it.

No, mostly they're angry or conniving.

Maybe the cause-effect is the other direction: notoriously unhappy people more often develop psychopathic traits?

They're only happy when they're hurting others.

I am grateful for so much support and all your wonderful answers and ideas.

Probably able to feel happy depending on what situation and mood they're in.

I'm reminded of this scene from American Psycho:

I don't know if they're happy or not but i imagine not being able to connect with people must be lonely. At least that"s what i gathered from all the TV shows i watched. especially Killing eve which i think portrays a unusual person pretty well though i don't know if it's an accurate representation of a psychopath. The character there mentioned that she's always bored and very little entertains her.

Define happy.

Successfully mistreating others, seeing their psychopathic manipulations pay off, and watching their machinations come to fruition, will indeed bring them great satisfaction, which is probably their own personal interpretation of happiness.

I get the feeling some of these self-proclaimed Aspies here on WP are really psychopaths. Especially the ones who like to bully other members.

I really don't see how they could be.
