I also love ants. I am happy when I see flies as I know the winter season is over. I also like watching them. The way they fly.. Zooming through the air with their own little brains... Making independent decisions... They are awesome!
And ants... The way they walk foe ages to find special gems! And when they find something they carry it back home excitedly!
And snails, slugs... Oh how lovely they actually are! The way God made them glide...

What lovely things insects are!

I like spiders. They're scary but feminine too in a dark kind of way. Like black widows.

I also like butterflies and moths.

Facts about houseflies...

Why do flies always fly around under the main light in the room?
They don't. They fly around in the middle of the room, which is where the main light is usually situated.

So why do they fly around there anyway?
In nature, animals tend to expend energy for three reasons... to eat, to escape danger and to reproduce. As the first two don't apply in the middle of your room, I can only assume it's on the pull.

This fly I'm watching now isn't flying around in the middle of the room, what's going on?
Either... it's decided it's not going to pull in your room and is having a rest before moving on to a late night bar...
Or, it's not a housefly, it's bluebottle/blow fly... they tend to buzz around all over the place like... erm... a blue-arsed fly.

Was the original version of "the Fly" (the one with David Hedison and Vincent Price) one of the creepiest films you've ever seen?
Yes!

Flies gross me out. The only bad part about eating outdoors is contending with flies.

I do like ants, just as long as they don't invade the kitchen or bathroom. As long as they stay outdoors, there's no problem.

The very same. It is also a member of the Odontomachus family of ants, whose claim to fame is that their jaws are able to be locked open like in the picture and then slammed shut like a bear trap. The shutting of their jaws is the single fastest movement in the animal kingdom.

So when you go to Mcdonalds, you say I'll have "flies" with that?
Whatever bakes your cookies, man.

I have always been fascinated by ants, as far back as I can remember.
I still am.
I try hard not to step on them, though it is hard when you cut the lawn. <sigh>

I also luv the "Huntsman" spider.
A magnificent "beast".
The most handsome spider of the lot, imo.

I hate flies. They spread filth and disease and the way they crawl all over everything is annoying and disgusting.
I grew up in the country, and although my parent's house wasn't filthy or smelly or anything, the flies would drive us all crazy every summer. They'd be crawling on our bodies as we were waking up in the morning, and they left flyspecks all over the place. We tried spraying and swatting, but nothing seemed to get rid of them.

But if you like flies, that's okay. You can enjoy something I can't.

But I like spiders because they eat flies and mosquitoes. And so do frogs. And bats. :)

EDIT: And I know how fly maggots are helpful for treating infections like gangrene and in forensic science, but they're still absolutely revolting. :eew:

Yes, sometimes there can be far too many of them buzzing round... And also they forget to wipe their little feet before they walk all over the nice tasty food... They don't mean to cause harm.
