hello wrong planet.

i'm so sorry if someone has already let this community know about this news, i did my best to search through and see if it had already been posted but i was unable to find anything and so just in case, i am going to post about this. i have chosen this form because the title seems most appropriate. i guess this is news.

any how...

unfortunately, a long time member of this forum, b9 (aka Mark) passed away on april 11. this is his profile: memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=21195

i know he was an active member of this community for over 10 years and figured there might be people who would like to know.

thanks for reading. and apologies again if this was already known.

I am sorry to hear that. I remember he wrote that he was suffering from emphysema and he had been told that did not have much time left.

Always sad to hear of the loss of a veteran member.

Here is the thread where he announced he had emphysema.

I've never seen the thread where he mentioned being ill.

I've read a lot through the last 10-15 years of posts here and appreciated his unique style. I had a couple of interesting exchanges with him. I feel quite shocked as he was also too young to go...

I'm very sorry, he will be missed and remembered :(

Yep. I've seen his posts, too.

He was the guy with the Lost In Space robot in his avatar.

It's sort of a shock that he passed away.

I send condolences to his family and friends.

I hope he felt good when it was "his time," and that he's in a "better place."

I crossed paths with him quite a few times on Wrongplanet over the years.

If I am not mistaken he was the person who invented a way to make wild graphic designs with a computer. He said it "wasn't fractals", but it was something like fractal geometry. He posted some wild abstract pics that were somehow generated on his computer in some way that he created, that got me and others awestruck. But he only posted about the hobby once, and then never again. So I don't know what happened with that unique bit of 'science meets art" thing he was into. Seemed pretty cool to me.

He was a rather prickly individual. I have mentioned that a particular WP member "got angry at me once, and accused me of being 'one of the most loved people on WrongPlanet'...". That guy who said that was B9. I guess I cant sue him for slander now! You all can tell his friends and relatives that I not only give my condolences, but that I also "forgive him for saying that!". :D

But apparently he did have a sweet side as well.

My last encounter with him was seeing a video he made only a couple of months ago of his feathered friends. He filmed a flock of wild kukaboros (funny looking Australian birds). That would come to the kitchen window of his rural house, and would get treats from him. Cutest thing you ever saw. You got to hear his voice talking to the birds like they were feathered puppy dogs. That cute vid is a nice note to remember him on.

I've enjoyed reading his posts for years.

I am sorry to hear of his passing. I hope he went painlessly in his sleep (like my father did of the same condition). COPD can be a real pain to live with everyday. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

I am sorry to read this and I will miss his posts, didn't realise he was so ill.
He liked his cars, that's how I encountered him, watched a few of the videos he posted of driving his cars.
I liked his perspective and the straight talking no nonsense autistic clarity he had. I will miss seeing that here.
Truly saddened to read this.
