Does anyone have trouble, and maybe strategies with getting their ideas from their head out to written (computer or pen paper) and spoken? Essentially there are lots of great ideas/descriptions/explanations but when it comes to laying it down on paper or explaining to someone there is a block. But in the mind the ideas can go on and on and on.

Happens to me all the time.

It’s similar, somewhat, to struggling to remember dreams upon awakening,

I seem to dream great ideas sometimes.

What form do your ideas take?
Mine are very abstract structures and factures, I can't really translate them into anything else than a ready product (a sewn dress, a mathematical equation, a computer program...)
Not all my ideas are really good when taking "real" shape. They need a second evaluation at this stage.

I'm like that too.
It helps to write one sentence at a time.
One thought at a time.
Don't worry about paragraphs.

I have had writer's block, and it's frustrating.

I have trouble getting the spoken words out, but written is usually OK. With verbal language I have a lot of trouble with compound words since there are two words to remember. I can't think of examples now, but I've come up with some really crazy vocabulary when I get both parts of the compound word slightly wrong. This has been a lot worse since my stroke.

I don't have any strategies for my verbal other than thinking through every sentence before I say it. I've been known to ask ahead of time, "What is that?" and point or gesture, before discussing an item.

I'm great with writing! I sound like an absolute buffoon if I have to use speech to describe or talk about things. I find it frustrating but it's always been that way.

Yes. Most at the time.

I find I use the same phrases in response to conversations, or copy a phrase someone out of a film or someone I know that uses often. I also speak like a child or in silly voices sometimes too. When it comes to describing something complicated or my own thoughts and emotions, it gets tough and I don't know where to start. I'm much better in writing, verbally I mix words up or blend words together, pronouncing them wrong and in turn making me feel more self conscious.

My speech sounds mumbled and incoherent especially when I'm attempting to tell a long story or a joke. In text I'm usually more competent.
