I think good or bad sense of direction is a trait independent from ASD.

I find following verbal directions hard but visual cues I'm better with. I can usually find my way to a place if I've been before, from memory. I have a back up map/sat nav to ease my anxiety, especially when driving somewhere. Multitasking is not easy.
