Hello
this is an interesting debate. President Trump today issued a statement that the recent shootings at El Paso etc.
have made him consider the cause.

Now instead of banning guns... Mr. Trump thinks banning violent computer games would offer a solution to the problems... not banning guns though. as having easy access to millions and millions of guns in the country obviously isn't the cause.... um... as if the computer game companies stopped making games and they banned all people from playing games period.

Then of course the shootings would completely stop.... ?! ! WTF....
bit like saying films that show drunk people in are the cause of people getting drunk...

Well. i understand that the cause is fairly complex, and that unfortunately some people are isolated, perhaps had suffered a life of trauma, mental health problems, low social status, and escape their loneliness by playing computer games all day and night. which must have a very bad affect on their mental state...

but these are the few rather than the many.
I would say that the use of various illegal drugs and especially stimulant based drugs such as crystal must also be a factor, as such long term abuse of such drugs much make a person more likely to become psychotic.

But.... those things besides, i would say that the amount of guns freely available in the country must be also a major factor.

So... personally, i would suggest that they get rid of guns....
As in the UK, they have the same video games. and there are very few shootings, with most gun crime being drug crime related rather than political or due to mental illness.

The thing with guns and mental illness, if someone does go nuts and decide to commit a shooting
but they live in an area where there a few or no guns, let alone ammunition

then if someone does go nuts, then they have no way to hurt people on mass, as if they want to they have to do using their feet and fists. And so are less able to commit so much violence but easier to arrest and for even a half decent citizen to take them down to neutralise them as a threat.

Ammunition is an interesting topic. Surely, if the government rationed ammunition to just 2 or 4 bullets max
that would give a person enough bullets to shoot someone if they broke in, but not enough to commit a mass murder shooting!?

I know people could make their own ammunition but this adds a level of skill, and people who are psychotic dont always have the best skills to do such things...

Banning guns won’t solve anything, it never has. Most shootings happen in areas where guns are banned and have the strictest gun laws. The shooters themselves say they pick gun free areas. So the left solution make more gun free areas.

It's true the genesis of frequent mass shootings is more cultural than because of any particular uptick in guns (there have always been a lot of guns in this country and semi-automatics aren't anything new). That said I don't think computer games are necessarily the culprit.

Short term a ban on guns would be unlikely to have much of an impact, although long term it might accomplish the goal of reducing mass shootings (not mass killings). Probably the most effective ban would be a ban on the reporting of shooter's identity. Many (not all) shooters do it for the fame and glory of being a "mass shooter."

A brief history on the corruption of youth:

Before Computer Games, it was Dungeons & Dragons.

Before Dungeons & Dragons, it was the Civil Rights Movement.

Before the Civil Rights Movement, it was Rock & Roll.

Before Rock & Roll, it was Comic Books.

Before Comic Books, it was Pornography.

Before Pornography, it was Women's Suffrage.

Before Women's Suffrage, it was Abolitionism.

Before Abolitionism, it was Apostasy.

Before Apostasy, it was Heresy.

Before Heresy, it was Philosophy.

So what happened to all of these corruptive influences?

They can be found on the Internet.

Thus, the solution is simple.

Ban the internet.

The way i see it. you cant shoot anyone if you haven't got a gun or any bullets.
If people simply do not have any guns then it is impossible for them to commit such crimes as mass shootings.
Personally i think that many of these shootings are less petty crime, but more politically motivated.

Either from the side of those who are anti USA, who are trying to ruin the countries tourism.
Or from the side of the far right, who also practice ritual occult crimes, who choose to shoot particular
people to shoot for a reason. For example, a few months ago a shooting occurred at a school where the
kids of wealthy Jewish intellectuals frequented, intellectuals who were positively on the side of the democrats.

Killing such people is a form of social engineering. To take out all the potential future leaders of the opposition before they even leave school. Hitler did similar things on his rise to power before the second world war. Kill all the intellectuals, the people who are bright enough to see through the hate campaigns, propaganda, slander, demonisation, brain washing. and general misinformation / disinformation.

This is so as to increase the chances for realising their ultimate objectives. Which is likely world domination, perhaps even through a 3rd world war. Perhaps the war will be a war on truth, achieved in secret.

Nonetheless, i think that if they were to enforce an endless amnesty on all firearms outside of clubs.
Then every time a gun popped up or ammunition, then it simply got melted down.
Eventually, most the guns would end up gone. even if it took a hundred years.

Surely. at some point due to scarcity, the numbers would reduce in terms of shootings.

i like it....
although as we approach the era where it will be possible to upload our consciousness onto a computer hard drive.
Perhaps it is time that we just ban all material possessions including our human bodies....
then we can all live in Virtual Reality..... if we aren't already....

perhaps us ASD sufferers can have the damaged sectors repaired with a disk defrag tool
and we should all be in heaven as long as we don't get a virus.... not a one that our vr doctor can cure anyway....

When I get arrested after traveling to the states and attempting mass genocide, I will tell them it's because I play games like The Sims, Animal Crossing and Tomadachi Life. It's definitely not because 99% of Americans are assholes and they piss me off and Trump is a dick and I just can't take it anymore.

Ban public spaces. That's where these shootings occur. Problem solved.

I think the topic's rather dumb. Few people would suggest banning computer games would solve this. Violent gaming is only a fragment of a violent culture, one which does not see value in human life.

Pregnant? It's a choice now. Teenage kid makes a bad decision? Threaten to disown him/her. Bang-buddies not working out? Go and plow someone else. Married, wife sick? Divorce, alimony. Old relative? Euthanasia. Got dissed on the street by the homies from the other side? Drive-by shooting. Hate some group of people for race? Vote Republican and go kill them. Hate a group of lawmakers? Vote Democratic & shoot them while they're playing baseball.

Then moan about it all on social media.

Sorry not sorry.

Incidentally, considering how many people ARE armed & dangerous, I am not giving up fire-arms at all. There will have to be a cultural change across the nation.

And perhaps, by the time that culture DOES change, people will not be committing mass murders, and fire-arms will be no bother. Who can say? (Although I'm not very hopeful, at the moment.)

Over half million lives are saved every year by defensive gun use, are they lives not important?

Also dead is dead wither by bullet or bomb or ran over with a truck, or crashed into by a plane, or stabbed to death, or having your head cut off etc. all examples of other mass killings. How’s the acid to face issue going there? Also lonely reports more and more guns being found which means the gun ban has don’t zip to stopping criminals from getting them. Read a story last year that long police are being issued guns again cause of this. And look at Paris with its multiple shootings. And the wors shooting happen in Norway.
China has mass stabbing. Bombs are used in other nations. In Australia it’s mass burning whwre they trap people in building then burn it down.

Seems bad people find ways to kill. Why limit good peoples ability to save themselves

You missed one. Before computer games kids were pretending to gun each other down with realistic looking toy guns while pretending to be soldiers, cowboys, cops and robbers. And kids and adults are still doing that with painball guns.

And if shooting people was the only way of committing mass murder we'd have something. Unfortunately it's not. The truck attack in Nice killed more people than any of the mass shootings in the U.S.

I own several guns, even more knives, I've been a gamer almost as long as games have been a thing and if I could I would put "the internet" as my country of origin on official forms. Exactly how long is the corruption supposed to take? Why haven't I gone on a spree yet, given my predeliction to these harmful and dangerous influences?

How are those knife-crime statistics looking, though?
