I once read on a PETA website years ago where it was claimed that drinking milk can cause autism.

When PETA says something, that does not make it true.

Isn't PETA some organisation for animal well being? What do they have to do with autism?

Nothing...but they will do anything to scare people into not consuming animal products.

As an animal welfare organization, they're an epic fail, too. Their philosophy would ensure a growing population of homeless animals. They certainly wouldn't know anything about autism.

That would compete for the dumbest vegan propaganda I've encountered... thought the competition is hard.
PS - I have full respect for vegetarians/vegans who choose this lifestyle without repeating this kind of burushitu.

Yeah, I've seen images of a billboard by PETA that said "Got Autism?" It showed a bowl of milk with Cheerios in the shape of a sad face floating in it. As if their belief that milk causes autism wasn't bad enough, the sad face implies that being autistic is a bad thing, and dehumanizes us.

And they kill animals. Basically, they're really a hate group, just like Autism $peaks. :x

Close. Pretty sure they would euthanize them all as their kill rate on animals that come into their custody is through the roof.

There are a lot of very misleading and stupid advertisements like this all over the place, and whenever I see such thing, I am like "what the... what right do they have to say this and put it that way".
There will always be such stupid things and pointless claims like these, no matter how stupid it is and how it shouldn't exist, it will still exist.
Just ignore it. I know its hard, you get used to it though.
I once heard a while back, on some pop up ad while reading an article on an autism related site - the pop up was like, "lack of X vitamin causes autism", or something else it was.
What's next, they will tell me aliens will invade Earth soon...

I took that stupid ad with a grain of salt from the very beginning.

It seems autism has more causes than cancer & according to some people everything we do or not do can cause cancer.
