To use or not use the mushroom sauce?

It's 3 days past its 'use by ' date .

Use it

Don't use it.

If it was just mushrooms I'd say yes but it's probably a creamy sauce so that's a no from me ( even if it was in date )

"Use by"?

Or

"Sell by"?

If it actually says "sell by" go ahead and use it.

If it says "use by", and is only three days then[shrug] I would still use it.

^^ Yes, it's a creamy sauce . This may sound odd, but I do try to coordinate the order of what lunch and dinner items are eaten first, so as to eat things before or on the use by date . As you can see I'm far from perfect at it . I'd written a list but had failed to include the sauces I was going to have with the tortellini I'd bought.

It's not always easy when it comes to doing the weekly shop, as items can fall into a narrow range as to their 'use by ' date

I'm forever chucking things in the freezer as things get eaten out of date order ( slightly annoying )

I had that Gastro-enteritis once... it was 'orrible. Good way to lose weight quickly, though.

I've heard one way to desensitize yourself to emetophobia was to eat something past its due date. I thought that was the worst advice ever. Although I think it depends on what food it is and how long since it's expired. A potato chip probably wouldn't harm you, but anything with eggs, dairy products, fish, meat...?

Better cautious than nauseous. That's my motto.
