In response to a reporter asking if she was afraid of the political ramifications of impeachment in 2020, she says that the House as an independent body needs to do its job and impeach the President. Once the House votes to impeach the President, the President is impeached. She wants to force the Senate to vote on whether to convict, and dares Republicans to vote "not guilty" and go on the record in the face of all this corruption in the Administration.

She makes a good point here, I think. If you don't force Republicans to go on the record, then they can keep up the plausible deniability.

If 60% of the american public doesn't want Trump impeached, is the House really doing its job by wasting resources following an impeachment effort that has no chance of getting through the senate?

Legitimately asking, because I don't think we should be governed by polls, but I also think impeachment is a bad idea. Particularly if your goal is to remove Trump from office.

Well considering the Democrats don't have any sane policies there's not much else they can hope for.

The house judiciary committee approved a resolution today defining the rules of the panel's impeachment investigation of president Donald Trump

If nothing radically changes the Republicans in the Senate will vote not to convict. Thier fate is tied mostly tied to Trump. The 2020 election is a referendum on him. It is also somewhat tied to whomever the Democrats nominate and general policies(ie. the Democrats nominate somebody worse than Trump, go off the cliff left) Impeachment can only help Republicans because the focus will be on impeachment and trial not the Democratic nominee. The whole thing will be a waste of money.

Pelosi knows this. She does not oppose impeachment because she is a timid wimp. She abhors the Trump personally, his norm breaking as much as any "woke" or socialist progressive. She prefers to put all the democrat efforts into continuing the blue wave in 2020.

History is not going to be kind to the Republicans on record for impeachment or not. How does making history's judgement a bit more negative going to help the progressive cause if Trump is reelected or what should have been a landslide is another tight contest?

I am sure that Trump is loving all the publicity they are giving him.

And I have a feeling they jumped the shark on this a long time ago.

Public opinion can and does change, especially if you know how to lead it.
