Yes. I often ask for specifics. It winds people up. Haha!

I think the "How good is that?" in an advert expects you to look at the product ( or it's results ) and make up your own mind.

Yes. I guessed what they mean by it, but it is soo much easier when people are more specific.

Your just a literal thinker that's all

When I first moved up to Yorkshire, I discovered that one of the common greetings is; "Woss'tha know?" (Yorkshire to English translation; "What do you know?") or sometimes; "Woss'tha know, owt or nowt?" ("What do you know, something or nothing?").

It used to stump me every single time - Know about what subject? Do I just pick one of my favourite trivia facts? Is there something I'm supposed to know?

How good is that? In ads and in popular US cultural, really translates into: this is seriously great.

They are related to Manx ( Isle of Man ) cats - no tails - I don't believe there is a Welsh connection unless a Welshman named them.

Come to think of it that's what it means this side of the pond too , they don't really want you too make your mind up

I believe Manx is a separate language from Welsh. I believe it's a Celtic language, though.

I just looked it up. It's closely related to the North Irish and Scottish form of Gaelic.

I was working a train once and a pair of youngsters came on the train. They were in their early 20's. One said "What's happenin dude?" So I said "We are on a train going to Swansea. The next stop is Llanelli..."
He said "Say what" so rather puzzled I said "What?"
He said "Say what" again so I said "What".
We were getting no where! Haha. I did manage to sell them tickets. They werw most amused.

It's not as common as in the US but if you are influenced by US TV/Film/Music it does creep into language here.

My favourite use of the word was in the film 'They Live'

Yeah the dark horse thing left me baffled for ages.

Get called that second to Labrador/human Labrador which was equally baffling until I asked people what they meant.
