The Greta Thunberg Debate
See above, Jimmy, I don't want to debate here if it's upsetting people.
The only thing I will say is that my previous response explained why the report has got it wrong, and it's not about erroneous data so much as mis-attributing local short-term weather trends to climate change and vice versa.
I couldn't care less if someone who's made 9 posts is upset. Probably someone's sockpuppet anyways.
No idea what's going on in here anymore but as stated, debates tend to get a bit out of hand because everyone has lots of different perspectives and pretty much feel whole heartedly opposite to another person... But anyhow I don't know if people are getting too riled up so I think it's best to tone it down

What do you mean by started?
I mean. I don't know whether it would be preferable to put my points across anymore because people who are opposed to what I'm saying may be getting annoyed and I dont want to upset people so I didn't know what was going on as in, if we still wanted to debate
Hope this clarifies

What does that have to do with anything?

Your profile says, Joined: 27 Sep 2019. Meaning you just started here 2 days ago. So I was puzzled by your comment that you don't know what's going on here anymore. Usually when someone makes a comment like that they have been here longer than 48 hours.

Ah okay, I didn't mean on here as in the whole site, I meant just in this particular post as I posted quote a few posts in this particular subject and then things went away from the debate, so instead of going back into the debate without knowing if people were getting upset I said, "I don't know what's going on in here" not in a bad way though just meant I don't know what to say next really

Maybe she's on a lot of medication. Too many kids her age are.

I agree with this perspective. The threads drifted of from the primary topic "The Greta Thunberg Debate". As a result I have refrained from posting on this thread for a few days in order to let the topic die down and regain the original focus.

And nobody had noticed that something is wrong until then?
Well, I'm probably going to be executed for posting this, but let's see...
I do not deny that the climate's changing. It has changed for all the world's history. The world has been much warmer than it is today in the past, and it didn't end. The difference is all with the rate of that change. If someone told me the climate's going to get 4C warmer over the next 10,000 years, I'd say "who cares? Everything's going to work out OK". But the rapid warming that's occurring won't be quite as gentle.
So yes, I do agree on cutting back emissions, but I do not believe that it'll lower our standard of living. In fact, it'll only increase it, for there's lots of employment opportunities in renewable energy. Sure, some workers will lose their current work, and have to be re-trained. But this won't be first time in history that this happened. The hand loom weavers lost their jobs when power looms took over (there are 100s of other examples of this occurring throughout history), and they didn't have much choice but to learn how to do different kinds of work.
As for Greta herself? A bit alarmist, sure; a few more years of inaction won't end the world, but it will result in more suffering than necessary. But sometimes you do have to go a bit to the extreme to get something more moderate and reasonable to occur. I am happy that she's doing what she's doing, and wish her all the best of luck. She's an intelligent, well spoken young lady. I do not care either way whether she has Asperger's or not, the same as I wouldn't care if she were a boy instead.
