What are some controversial movies you have watched and would you recommend such movies to anyone?

From 'antichrist' to 'passion of the christ', I have seen a lot.

But it depends on what one considers controversial - I recommend both of them.

Actually, all films by Lars von Trier and all films by Mel Gibson.
They're definitely not your marvel superhero fare.

This is a really good point, it can vary hugely. You'll usually find Lars Von Trier or David Lynch on most lists.

My mom thinks it's an insult to Catholics given that she grew up in a Catholic household.

I think The Life Of Brian is a funny movie.

Maybe Forrest Gump is controversial too? It dealt with issues of racism in the south and the horrors of the Veitnam War. And you had the main character who was essentially a naive color-blind imbecile casually mentioning the fact that he was named after the founder of the KKK to a black woman in the opening scene...

He wasn’t an imbecile.

I was inspired to run marathons by Forrest Gump.

Don’t forget: he saved all those people in the Vietnam War, and got the Medal of Honor.

Well I think he was and wasn't one at the same time. He did have his own unique way of seeing things and he did amazing stuff, but he also did some foolish things like telling a black stranger about the origin of his name and the connection it had with the founder of the KKK. I know he didn't mean any harm by it, but I was surprised that the woman didn't get very offended and walk away from him.

He reminds me of "The Fool" card in tarot. He embodies both the positive and negative traits of such a card, just like Holmer Simpson.

The woman was beyond getting offended. She had too much class for that.

People have to stop getting offended over every little thing.

Don’t forget: Jenny wanted Forrest to be the daddy of her kid.
