I've got carpets in every room of my current residence (bar the kitchen). Have lived here for twelve years and still not used any such device. I'm a bit of a Neanderthal, I suppose...

I don't really. Occasionally use a hand brush and dustpan, but it's a token effort quite frankly...

Vacuuming is like...getting sober.

There is no use in doing it because you're only gonna hafta do it again!

Exactly! If I go to all that trouble to get something clean, the least it can do is stay clean. :D

Yep. Inanimate objects...like children ...they break your heart. They don't stay clean. And when you're not looking they sprout legs and walk around the house and hide from you, and even just run away from home!

Vacuum. Just vacuum.
"I'm going to vacuum."
"Can you get out the vacuum?"
If you call it a vacuum cleaner you're considered a bit of a twat.

I use Kleenexes, whether they are made by that company, or not. I Xerox things, I google things, I even Wiki topics (look it up on Wikipedea). But I don't hoover my home. Vacuum, but not Hoover. Don't use that brand name as a verb.

i hate vacuuming. :| i get so hot and sweaty and tired from doing it. and having to move all that sheet out of the way, there must be hundreds of things i have to move in order to do a proper job of it.

I'm from the United States, more specifically the Pacific Northwest area, and I say "vacuum cleaner".
