I was in the car with my sister when she stopped to get gas. She said she hates putting gas in her car because gasoline is stinky.

I understand how she feels. Gasoline has a very strong and nauseating odor.
But I never have to put gasoline in a car since I don't drive one and I guess I never will. :(

I am old enough to remember the days when gas stations had guys who pumped the gas for you. Back in the Fifties and Sixties. They would check your oil too.

Actually there are some stations that still have "full service lanes" that do that for you.

But that's the exception not the rule.

It's really very simple, no gas--no go. If your sister really hates the smell of gas enough to let her car run out of it, she either needs to trade it in for an electric car, or electric motor cycle, or switch to riding a bicycle. Hey, those come in electric models, too!

They actually have electric cars? But if it starts to rain while you're driving, won't you get electrocuted? :duh:

I’m 49, I remember them too, they had them in the 80s & 90s, little bit in the early 2000s, me & my mom were in the car. And there were people that wash your car too.

I once read about a woman who said she craved gasoline while she was pregnant. Fortunately, she never actually drank it, and the craving stopped when her baby was born.

She should move to New Jersey or Oregon. We don't pump our own gas.

^ I was about to say that about Oregon. It's against the law there. A gas station attendant has to do it.

This sort of thing might be what prompted the law:

That is so ironic. I have zero ability to smell.

I would be jumping with joy at the ability to smell gas!! !

I'm guessing gasoline is what we call petrol? I love the smell of it!

Yes, gasoline, or gas for short, is what we call petrol here in Canada and the US.
